Kenya Power operates an open access fibre optic network which provides services to licensed application and content service providers.
The company operates under the license NFP Provider II in 2008 to provide:
- Lease Access, Backhaul dark fibers on
- Technical Support - (O&M)
- Lease Colocation Services per shelter or Telecom rack space.
The company endeavours to provide a complete line of telecommunications products to enable telecom service providers to meet their ever-increasing bandwidth demand for voice, data, and video.
In order to do this effectively, KPLC is currently seeking approvals to establish a subsidiary which will focus in provision of dedicated services to clients. The subsidiary will also seek to meet and satisfy clients and stakeholders investment interests as well as to support government ICT agenda with the overall goal of creating opportunities for the youth, bridge the digital gap in rural areas and enhance ICT contribution to GDP.
